Executive Officer - Ms Helen Perriman
Helen commenced as Executive Officer at Mercy Community Services NQ in March 2016. Helen has a wealth of experience in management in not-for-profit organisations and her career has included twenty-six years with the Sisters of Mercy in Townsville, managing the finances of the Congregation and its ministries. Helen was then employed as Business Manager at Ryan Catholic College in Townsville, the largest P-12 school in Queensland. BBus (Accting), CPA, MBA, JP Qualified.
Director of Nursing - Loreto - Mrs Michelle Yanner
Michelle has been privileged to enjoy working with both the newest and the most senior members of our community. She has worked across fields of clinical nursing and public health including midwifery, general practice and was the Clinical Nurse Consultant at Loreto before stepping into the role of Director of Care. Michelle is incredibly passionate about aged care and has special interests in vaccination, understanding dementia and empowering all members of staff to ensure that every resident receives the highest standard of care. Michelle believes that older people are undervalued in our society and her desire to contribute to changing these attitudes is a key motivation for taking on the role of Director of Care.
Manager - Villa McAuley - Mrs Laurell Miller
Mrs Laurell Miller has been the manager of Villa McAuley Retirement Village since January 2000, having previously worked in administration at St Patricks College Townsville. Her role includes management of the Village, welcoming of residents and community development activities.
Highlights of her work include developing the beautiful garden landscape of Villa McAuley, welcoming new residents, organizing social activities (often supported by her members of her extended family) and sponsoring a range of sporting, cultural and creative groups in the community.
Laurell has completed The Mercy Partners Formation for Leadership Programme and participated in the Mercy Pilgrimage Dublin.
Safe at Home Co-ordinator - Mrs Wendy Blezard
Ms Blezard has had fifteen years experience working in the medical industry and was appointed to the Safe at Home Program as Co-ordinator in August 2011. Her current role encompasses being in the community assisting residents with 24 hour monitored Personal Medi-Alert Alarms which allow clients to be able to stay safely in their own homes longer. Ms Blezard’s position as the Safe At Home Program Co-ordinator with Mercy Community Services North Queensland is very worthwhile and rewarding. It allows her to be able to be of great help to others in the community who may require a little assistance.
